Flowerheads of senecio inaequidens are very similar to other ragworts, but the leaves are quite distinctive.

The calyculi are narrowly triangular in shape, around a third as long as the phyllaries, and also purple-tipped

Alternate, narrow (5 mm or less), linear, unlobed, one-veined, on rigid stems that may be woody around the base
