The corolla is pink, tubular, up to 22 mm long, with short hairs on the outside and two lines of white bristles down the middle of the lower lip, while the calyx has a green tube and narrow, purplish lobes (three longer than the other two), all covered by long silky hairs. Flowers form in dense whorls, with just a few in bloom at any one time; the remainder of the calyces are empty

Opposite, stalked, ovate, hairy, stalked, up to 2.5 cm long, lined by very shallow teeth
