Leaves of plants in the plumbaginaceae (sea lavender, or leadwort family) are undivided, though may be lobed, and are predominantly basal. Flowers are small, formed of five sepals, five petals and five stamens; they occur in dense clusters. In the UK there is one species in the armeria genus and a dozen or more in the limonium genus, most very similar and difficult to identify.
